Do you live in a constant state of worry or anxiety? Are there fears that harass you on a continual basis? Do your thoughts tend to run in negative, pessimistic patterns? Perhaps you have habits or addictions that you know you need to break?
What you need is an extreme mind makeover β a transformation. You need to get so full of the Word of God that it begins to change your attitude andΒ renew your way of thinking.
Romans 12:2 (AMP) says, Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude]β¦
Renewing your mind is one of the most important things you can learn to do as a Christian. In this world we are constantly inundated with negativity, fear, worry, anxiety, stress, sin and many other things that can easily bring us down. If weβre not careful to guard our minds against these assaults, we will be reduced to a nominal Christian, struggling to survive instead of a triumphant believer rising up in faith and power.
But thankfully, God has given you the ability to transform yourself! All you need to do is feed upon the Word on a consistent basis so that it drives out those negative thoughts, attitudes, worries, and fears. His Word can completely renovate your mind.
The Greek word for βrenewβ used here in Romans 12:2 is anakaninosis, which means βrenovation,β (Strongβs Exhaustive Concordance).
The Authentic New Testament translates it this way:
Do not accommodate yourselves to the age we live in, but transform yourselves by a mental renovation, so that you are competent to determine what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
When one renovates a house, it usually consists of a complete overhaul, a restoration, or a reconstruction. That is what the Word does for your mind. As you spend time meditating on the Word of God, it completely overhauls your way of thinking, and restores and aligns your mind with Godβs way of thinking.
You can become so established in the Word of God that you will literally transform yourself from a fearful, cringing, stressed-out worrier into a powerful man or woman of God, walking around in victory and perfect peace!
Transform yourself by the power of the living Word of God!

loved that line!
blessings.
Thank you, Richelle! Blessings, Alisha
I SO needed to read this today….we’ve had so much going on in our lives……and I need a renewing. π
We too loved Tybee Island…it was so wonderful, quiet and quaint! We didn’t eat at the Sundae Cafe…I didn’t even see that….is it on the lighthouse part of the island, that’s where we stayed. The lighthouse was about 1 1/2 blocks from our cottage….so sweet~!
Have a blessed day~
Glad you had a great time. Next time, eat at the Sundae Cafe — it’s on the main road that runs through Tybee (very close to where you stayed) — you won’t regret it! Blessings to you Missy! ~ Alisha
Loved your post. I have always been a worrier, guilty of giving my cares to God and then taking them back. I have to stay in His Word, it keeps me on solid ground.
Amen. He is our Peace! Blessings, Alisha
Enjoyed this.
Thank you, Denise. Blessings to you! Alisha
I’m not so much a worrier, though at times I do have a difficult time coping with things that are sometimes beyond my control. I always wonder why we can’t all get along, but I realize that it is not up to me to force the circumstance. I can only control my own behavior. I really needed this today. Found you via the OYHT blog hop; will be following you. Have a blessed day!
You are so right, Mitzi. We can only control our own behavior, and put our trust in the Lord for the rest. And He is so faithful! Thank you so much for visiting and for connecting. Blessings to you, Alisha
I needed this message today
So glad it could bless you, Marsha! π
Good words. Restoration includes the word “rest”. We need to rest while God does his work in us. I like what you said about a renovating a house and I am reminded that renovation usually requires some tearing down……..
I love this, Vicky! Yes, we need to “rest” while the “restoration” is taking place. Thank you for visiting. Blessings, Alisha
Excellent! The transforming power of the Word–I’ve experienced it. Not an overnight process but a continuing one. What a difference it has made in my life.
Amen, Pamela! God’s Word is all-powerful! I love His Word! Blessings to you, Alisha
I need to hear this today too! Thank you!
Praise God! He is so good! Blessings to you Pauline!
Attitude is everything. It is how we face the world. It can be with a negative lens cover or a positive one. Going to the Word always helps me put the positive one on! π
Yes, thank God for His Word that corrects us and encourages us! Blessings to you today Mindy!
So true that our minds are transformed when we focus on the Word of God. It’s important to remember that God does the transforming…we are just faithful to be obedient to Him through faith.
Amen, Mary Beth!
This is such a beautiful truth. I love the amazing way our God transforms us, and how it comes about. He made us for relationship with Him; He wants to be intimately involved in our lives. That is so humbling and wondrous, that He walks alongside us and transforms us from the inside out as we seek Him through His Word and through prayer- as we sit at his feet. So thankful I stopped by today. π God bless you.
Yes, I am so thankful for His transforming Word! Blessings to you Rachel! π
Just found your blog….and love it! Thank you for your writings and being so encouraging.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you dropped by for a visit! Blessings to you, Alisha
I love how you talked about the translation of renew. It is amazing when we put all our focus on God and His Word. Through my Lyme Disease treatment, I have been so much more proactive in seeking God’s word and everyone has talked about how much I’ve changed and I can feel it! They wonder how I’ve done it, but I haven’t done anything except seek God and HE has transformed. Ah its so amazing how good God is! Thanks for sharing! Be blessed π
You are so right, Chelsea. I, too, am amazed by His goodness. He is so wonderful! Thank you for visiting. Blessings, Alisha
Such a great reminder! Thanks for linking up!
Thanks, Jenni. Blessings!
I love that analogy Alisha!! Such a great reminder! I am blessed to be part of such a great group!! Thank you. π
I’m blessed to be a part too! Have a great weekend, sweet friend!
I love Romans 12! Great to meet you – I’m also a minister’s wife, and I live in England, so I guess I’m an Anglophile! Coming to you via Beholding Glory (faith filled friday)
So nice to meet you, Tanya. Where in England do you live? My husband & I visited 9 years ago & traveled to quite a few places. It was so beautiful! Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for stopping by, Alisha
The enemy will do anything to get us to worry and live in a state of fear and stress, but the Word of God truly is our powerful weapon against this.
Visiting from Faith Filled Friday.
Blessings,
Laura
Amen, Laura!
God’s word is a powerful sword! The devil is a cunning demon! I am fighting him at my work place most days! I hung the words to the Ephesians Chapter 6 on my desk, “Put on the full armor of God”…. I read it daily. It helps keep me sane. I would appreciate prayer as my co workers are non believers and I fight with satan daily!
Amen, Anne! God’s Word is our powerful sword — the only weapon we need! When Jesus was being tempted by the devil, He always replied, “It is written…” That’s what we have to do each day. I would encourage you to also keep a copy of 1 Cor. 13:4-8 (Amplified Bible) on your desk. It will help you as you walk in love toward your co-workers. Remember, Rom. 5:5 says, The love of God has been poured into your heart. You can be a light in the darkness at work. Blessings to you, Alisha
Yes, God’s Word in our minds is so very important, dividing the ways of self from what’s spiritually uplifting in Christ. If we are truly willing to abide in Him, the living Word really does get a hold of our thoughts and intentions, subjecting them to God’s will.
An encouraging post. Thanks.
Yes, that reminds me of Heb. 4:12 (AMP) – The Word of God exposes, sifts, analyzes, and judges the very thoughts & purposes of our heart. Blessings, Alisha
What a beautiful “transformational” post. You are so right.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Thank you, Charlotte. Blessings to you, too!
Thanks for posting this. I feel so encouraged after reading it. Bless you π
Thank you for visiting, Lauren. I’m so glad you were encouraged. Blessings to you! Alisha
Alisha, you have such a lovely blog here. I’ll have to take the time to look around some more. π I thoroughly enjoyed this post. It’s a daily transformation that we can’t afford to neglect……and I loved how the Authentic New Testament puts it, “Do not acccomdate yourselves to the age we live in, but transform yourselves by a mental renovation……”
Blessings,
Elaine
Thank you for visiting, Elaine, and thank you for your kind words! Yes, we must allow God’s Word to transform us each and every day. If we will be faithful to put it in our hearts, He will do His part and make us more and more like Him! Blessings to you, Alisha
Alisha, you and I speak the same language! I totally appreciate your post today! My spirit was jumping up and down in my saying, “YES! Yes!!”.
Romans 12:2 is a mainstay that pulls all the Scripture together for me.
You said, “But thankfully, God has given you the ability to transform yourself! All you need to do is feed upon the Word on a consistent basis so that it drives out those negative thoughts, attitudes, worries, and fears. His Word can completely renovate your mind.”
That is SO important to know! Thank you for pointing out that God has provided all that we need..and that He has given us the ability to DO IT!
Thank you, Kela! You & I must be kindred spirits! God’s Word is so awesome, isn’t it? Blessings, sweet friend! π
