This Cereal Box Christmas Tree is simple to make (although just a bit time consuming), but it looks so elegant amongst your Christmas decorations.
Supplies needed:
- 1 – 2 cereal (or cracker) boxes
- scissors
- glue gun
- white acrylic paint
- glitter
- decorative paper (for star)
- toothpick
- styrofoam plate
Begin by cutting and rolling a cone shape out of an old cereal box and gluing it together with the brown cardboard facing out (not pictured).
Then with the rest of the box (and possibly another) start cutting out scale shapes approximately 1.5 inches long and 0.5 inch thick:

With your glue gun, begin gluing the scales at the bottom of the cone, working all the way around. Then start another row a half inch above the first, staggering the pattern as you go.

Repeat this process all the way up to the very tip of the cone.

After all scales are glued onto the tree, take some white acylic paint and lightly cover entire tree. Immediately after painting, sprinkle with glitter so that the glitter will have something to adhere to. (I painted and glittered my tree in a styrofoam plate for easy clean up.)

While the tree is drying, cut out two star patterns from the decorative paper of your choice and glue together (centering a toothpick in between each star).

Punch a small hole in the styrofoam plate with another toothpick or pin so that the star can dry in an upright position.

When paint, glitter and glue are all dried, insert star into top of the tree, and there you have a lovely, sparkly Christmas tree made from a humble ole cereal box!
