Once you understand what your God-given purpose is, you must establish priorities in your life that will not be changed. After you determine what your fixed priorities are, then it’s time to move on to setting your goals and getting closer to fulfilling God’s plan for your life.
Priorities are those things that you value most in life: your faith in God, your marriage, your children, your life’s calling, etc. (the things that are intrinsic to you and that you will never change).
They are not your goals.
Your goals must align with and support your priorities. If they don’t, then you need to reevaluate those particular goals.
Get a piece of paper and write out your priorities. Knowing and understanding them will keep your life balanced.
- What are the most important things in life to you?
- What do you believe your God- given purpose, your calling, your destiny is?
- What are your passions?
- What gives you a true sense of joy?
Once you know who and what your priorities are you can begin to set your goals and take action. By clearly defining your values, you can easily identify the most effective use of your time and simplify any difficult decisions you may face in life.
