“I came that they may have and enjoy life,
and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
John 10:10 AMP
Area You Flourishing in Every Area of Your Life?
I believe there are twelve areas of life that must be in balance. Once these areas are in balance with one another, you will live a happier, more peaceful, content, and fulfilling life.
These twelve areas are:
- Spiritual Growth
- Personal Development
- Marriage
- Family
- Home Environment
- Friends & Relationships
- Purpose & Calling
- Career/Occupation
- Health & Fitness
- Finances
- Creativity
- Fun & Recreation
Take out a pen and a piece of paper (or simply print out the FREE Flourishing Life Goal Planner) then write out these twelve areas and rate them on a scale between 1 and 5 (with 1 being very unsatisfied and 5 being highly satisfied).
The areas with the lowest rating of satisfaction are the ones that you probably want to work on and focus the most time and attention on when you are considering your goals. But you should continue to nurture the other areas as well.
Goals for Each Area of Life
What are your goals in each area of life? Think about them, pray about them, then write them down. Be specific. (After each category, I list a few suggestions to help get you started.)
(1) Spiritual Growth (e.g. spend more time in the Word, develop my prayer life, meditate more, join a church and attend regularly, learn to cast my worries and cares on the Lord, etc.)
(2) Personal development (e.g. read one motivational/personal growth book a month, finish my degree, be an inspiration/mentor to others, learn a new language, learn to play an instrument, etc.)
(3) Marriage (e.g. regular date night with my husband, grow in my relationship/intimacy with my husband, meet and marry the man of my dreams, etc.)
(4) Family (e.g. establish a regular family devotion time, have a weekly family game night, walk in love to those most important to me, etc.)
(5) Relationships (e.g. enlarge my circle of friends, develop stronger relationship with ____, reconnect with ____, mentor young women or girls, start/join a small group at church, etc.)
(6) Home Environment (e.g. maintain a peaceful atmosphere, declutter and organize, establish a cleaning routine and stick with it, redecorate, etc.)
(7) Purpose & Calling (e.g. discover God’s plan and purpose for my life, take steps toward fulfilling my purpose, develop my gifts and abilities, etc.)
(8) Career/Occupation (e.g. earn over $____ by next year, start my own business, find fulfilling work that I truly enjoy, get promoted to ____, become the #1 sales person in the company, etc.)
(9) Health & Fitness (e.g. lose ____ lbs., build muscle tone, run my first 5K, 10K, half marathon, etc., build cardio endurance, walk ____ steps per day, cook healthier meals for my family, detoxify my home of chemicals, etc.)
(10) Finances (e.g. earn $____ per month, pay off all credit card debt, pay off home mortgage, be completely debt free, create multiple streams of passive income, become financially independent, buy a home, etc.)
(11) Creativity (e.g. carve out daily/weekly time to enjoy ____, take up a new hobby, practice and play ____ (instrument) on a consistent basis, write a novel/poetry/songs/blog, practice photography skills, etc.)
(12) Fun & Recreation (e.g. travel to ____, take a vacation to ____, take ____ vacations per year, engage in a new sport or activity, read ____ novels per year, etc.)
