I love God’s Word, and we live in a wonderful age in which the Word is available in so many various forms. We have many different translations of the Bible in our home, and I have even more versions on my iPhone app. But none of them would do well if something were spilled on them or if they were dropped in water.
Enter the Waterproof Bible.
What use would anyone have with a “waterproof” Bible? After all, no one reads the Bible while scuba diving, right? Maybe not, but think about all the uses such a product would have:
- a Bible that can be read at the beach, poolside, or while floating in the pool
- a Bible that can be read while soaking in a warm bubble bath
- a Bible that is durable enough to use when camping or hiking
- a sturdy and resilient Bible you can rely on while on a Missions trip
Or, a little closer to home
- a Bible that resists the “artwork” or sticky fingers of small children
- a Bible that cleans up easily after tea (or heaven forbid, coffee) spills
As soon as I received my copy, I couldn’t wait to put it to the test. The first thing I noticed was that it was my favorite color: pink (always a good thing if you’re a girlie-girl). The next thing I noticed was the smooth, synthetic, tear-resistant pages. (Yep, I tried to tear a page!)
The following week, we had some major rainstorms and I thought that this would be my chance to actually test the “waterproof” claims. I hesitantly dropped the Bible out on our cobblestone walkway to see how it would fare. I was amazed at how it wiped up clean and dry, with no smudges or smears.
The Bubble Bath Test
The next test was to see how the Bible would do if it were “accidentally” dropped into a bathtub filled with water and bubbles. As we were setting up for this test, my little nephew enthusiastically volunteered to sit in the bubble bath. How could I say “no” to a face like this?
The Tea Test
But the real test I wanted to give this Bible was the “tea” test! Below you will see a picture of my regular Bible. On numerous occasions I have spilled or dribbled my hot tea over its pages. I attribute that to being up too early in the morning and not quite awake, rather than to clumsiness! 😉 You will notice smears and smudges of my writing, as well as pages that will be forever wrinkled and stained.
So, I did the unthinkable: I purposely poured tea into the Waterproof Bible. (You should have heard the gasp and outcry of my youngest son when he saw me doing so!) Would it clean up completely? Would it smear the ink on the verse I had just underlined?
Sturdy, Durable, Tear-Resistant & Stain-Resistant
I am quite impressed with the Waterproof Bible and would highly recommend it to anyone. Not only is this Bible waterproof, it is also sturdy, durable, tear-resistant and stain-resistant. You don’t even have to subject it to inclement conditions to recognize its benefits. Because of the Bible’s size, design and sleekness, it makes a great Bible to use anywhere.
The Waterproof Bible comes in the following versions:
- NIV – New International Version
- NKJV – New King James Version
- KJV – King James Version
- ESV – English Standard Version
- NLT – New Living Translation
- NASB – New American Standard Bible
And you can order it in pink, blue, or camouflage (perfect for your camping, hunting and hiking guys).
One thing to remember, is that you cannot use gel pens or regular highlighters because they will smear and are easily wiped off. Instead, use a ballpoint pen, regular or colored pencils and dry highlighters. You will never experience “bleed-through” like you do with typical Bible pages.
If you are thinking of gifts for the upcoming Christmas season, the Waterproof Bible would make a great one! It retails for $39.95, measures 5 7/8″ x 8 3/4, and contains 754 completely synthetic pages. You can use my code until December 31, 2012 and get free shipping on any order: FREESHIP2
