Personal Growth

cultivating your soul

Wise men store up knowledge [in mind and heart]…”

Proverbs 10:14 (AMP)

One very important way to cultivate your soul is to never stop learning. In fact, I encourage you to develop a “lifestyle of learning.” We mothers are always eager to invest in our children’s education, but it is vitally important that we continue to invest in our own as well.

As Christians, we should be continually growing, changing and progressing “from glory to glory.” If we are not moving forward, then we will begin to stagnate. The Bible is all about growth. We are encouraged to grow in wisdom, knowledge, understanding, love, grace, and more.

There is always room for improvement in every area of our lives: spiritual, intellectual, relational, physical, financial, creativity, career, etc. Consequently, it would be an excellent idea for you to create your own personal growth plan in these areas.

Is there a particular subject you would like to know more about? The internet is an amazing source! There is a vast amount of information on almost any subject you can think of! You can Google it or even look the subject up on YouTube – there’s probably someone who’s already made a video about it.

Today, anything you need to know is literally at your fingertips!

Check out books from the library, or better yet, buy your own so that you can keep them as a reference and highlight or underline or dog-ear certain pages to come back to again and again. I recommend that you invest in books that will contribute to your own personal success, such as time-management, goal-setting and planning, personal development, personal achievement, etc.

There are CDs, mp3s, podcasts and streaming audio from experts in almost every field. Take advantage of all their knowledge while you drive in the car or walk on the treadmill.

Would you like to be able to fluently converse, read and write in another language? There are all sorts or computer programs, Skype lessons, audio programs and books to help you do so.

Perhaps you would like to go back to college and finish your degree. Do it! You can even earn your degree through correspondence or online programs at various colleges and you never (or rarely) have to set foot on the campus!

Maybe you’d like to pursue a certain career path, start an at-home business, or obtain a promotion at your current job. There are seminars, webinars, workshops, conventions and conferences that you can attend that will help you gain the knowledge you need.

Whatever you’d like to learn, go after it!

Don’t allow your soul – your mind or intellect – to dry up and wither away. Always be learning, growing, and stretching yourself beyond what you currently know. Become an expert in your favorite subjects.

Cultivate your soul by continuing your education and personal growth! The entire world is before you!
