Want to make this adorable Shabby Chic heart banner for Valentine’s Day? (Actually, I think it may stay up all year long!) Below is a tutorial:
You will need:
- book pages (I used a vintage book with pages that measured 3 inches x 6 inches)
- decorative paper in your choice of colors & patterns
- miscellaneous buttons and/or cabochons
- jute twine (length of your choice)
Using a template (download or create yourself), cut out heart shapes in 5 to 7 different patterns.
Cut out a triangular shape at the bottom of each book page. (I cut mine approximately 2″ high and 3″ wide, but you should adjust your for the size of your pages.)
Position each heart in the center of its corresponding page and glue in place. (I used “Tacky Glue,” but next time I’ll probably use a glue stick which is lighter and won’t cause the pages to curl as much.) Then glue on buttons/cabochons.
Bend the top of each book page backwards over twine and glue into place, spacing evenly.
And then hang your lovely Shabby Chic heart banner wherever you’d like!
Don’t forget to sign your kids (your tweens, teens, & yourself) up for my mixed media art workshop, Valentine’s Day Mixed Media Workshop. Click on the image for more info.
