When you honor the Lord by obeying His Word in all things, then you are seeking first the Kingdom of God. And when you’re seeking first His Kingdom, he will always take care of you!
Remember that there is “our part” and “God’s part.” Our part is to honor Him by bringing the first part of our income (the Tithe = 10%) to Him. This is an act of obedience, and an act of faith. It shows the Lord that we love Him, honor Him, and trust Him.
God’s part is to bless us. When we give Him His portion, He will bless us so greatly that there will not be enough room to receive it.
Read these scriptures to remind yourself of God’s promises to care for you and provide for you. As you read them, believe them. Allow faith to rise up in your heart. God is your Father. He loves you and He will take good care of you and your family.
Malachi 3:10 (NLT) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do, says the LORD Almighty, I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you!
Proverbs 3:9 (TLB) Honor the Lord by giving him the first part of all your income, and He will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines.
Above and beyond the Tithe, we should also be giving to others (of our finances, our possessions, our time, our prayers, etc.) If we give, we will receive:
Luke 6:38 (CEB) Give, and it will be given to you. A good portion – packed down, firmly shaken, and overflowing – will fall into your lap. The portion you give will determine the portion you receive in return.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (CEV) Remember this saying, “A few seeds make a small harvest, but a lot of seeds make a big harvest.” Each of you must make up your own mind about how much to give. But don’t feel sorry that you must give and don’t feel you are forced to give. God loves people who love to give. God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.
The Lord Jesus Himself commands us not to worry over our finances, but instead to trust our Father God to provide for us:
Matthew 6:25, 31-33 (AMP) Stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? … Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? … Your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
Believe that what the Bible says is true! Stop worrying and start trusting. He will supply everything that you have need of!
Philippians 4:19 (AMP) And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Prayer for Finances:
“Father, I thank You for promising that if we would honor You with our finances by tithing and joyfully giving, that You would bless us abundantly.
Right now, I stop worrying and stressing about our finances because You know what we need and I believe You will provide for my family and me. I determine to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, and I know that all the things we need (finances, food, clothing, shelter, etc.) will be given to us.
You are always faithful to supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus! Thank You for blessing us with everything we need, and that we will always have more than enough to be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ Name.”
