Last month, my family and I were blessed to be able to stay at a beach cottage on Tybee Island for ten days. It was a much needed vacation – especially for my husband who travels overseas as a missionary on a regular basis – a time of rest and rejuvenation.
I was so sweetly reminded of the Lord’s goodness and faithfulness many, many times over those ten days. Just walking along the seashore in the early morning…
or at sunset was enough to remind me of how big He truly is and to put all of my troubles in perspective.
Listening to the roar of the waves crashing onto the beach reminded me of Revelation 14:2 (NLT) which describes the voice of the Lord:
“…like the roar of mighty ocean waves or the rolling of loud thunder…”
And though I’ve had questions about direction for the future, the local lighthouse reminded me of 2 Samuel 22:29 which says,
“LORD, You are my lamp; [You] illuminate my darkness.”
All my life, God has been so faithful to me. He has never once failed me or let me down. But I am still human, so I still question, “Why?” and “When?” and “How?”
But my favorite example of His faithfulness is a story I shared on Instagram while we were there:
Many years ago, as a little girl with my family at the beach, I desperately wanted to find a big conch shell. I remember praying and asking the Lord to help me find one. I never did.
Then just a few years ago on Tybee Island, I found three!
It was as if the Lord spoke to my heart, “See, I always hear and answer your prayers. The answer may not come exactly when you think it should, but I always remember every prayer you pray and will give you the desires of your heart – even the seemingly insignificant ones.”
Well, fast forward to last month. My daughter wanted to find some beautiful seashells, so I asked the Lord again for some more conch shells. (He is a more-than-enough God, after all!)
Walking right along the shoreline that very morning after asking, a wave washed up this big conch shell (below) right at my feet! Then I found the smaller one a few minutes later.
It was so perfect and almost comical how fast it happened!
You may not realize it, but God cares about the tiny, insignificant, even silly things that you care about.
Psalm 37:23 (NLT) says,
“He delights in every detail of your life.”
So, I want to encourage you that no matter what you’re believing for, no matter how long you’ve been standing in faith, don’t give up! Don’t quit! Don’t cast away your confidence! God hears your prayer & He will answer it. His answer is, “Yes, and Amen,” (2 Corinthians 1:20). He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). All you have to do is keep believing. Keep standing on His Word.
The Lord loves you and cares for you more than you can ever imagine!
(See how God speaks through seashells?) 😉
