You knew it was coming, didn’t you? Are you ready for it?
Exercise is an absolutely crucial part of becoming healthy and fit. Any diet program or “weight loss” supplement that claims that you don’t need to exercise is only setting you up for disappointment.
If you want long term, healthy and lasting results, you must exercise your body. Trying to lose weight without working out is why so many people fail. You’ve got to move!
Have you ever seen a stagnated pond? It is usually filled with slime and gunk. It is a breeding ground for infection and disease and all sorts of toxins. According to Dr. Don Colbert, in The Seven Pillars of Health, the same thing can happen with our bodies if we never exercise.
Remember yesterday that we talked about how our bodies are approximately two-thirds water. So, “stirring the waters” with exercise is essential for you to prevent bodily stagnation.
On the other hand, when water moves, life thrives. Running water is usually fresh water. Rivers and waterfalls are beautiful and inviting – alive. That’s a perfect picture of what exercise does. It refreshes your body and cleanses it of toxins and cellular garbage, sharpening your mind and giving you strength and energy.
Find a Balanced Exercise Program
One thing you must understand is that you can’t just do cardio and expect to lose weight. Yes, you may initially lose weight, but then your body will plateau, the weight loss will stop, and you will become frustrated.
In order to have a balanced exercise program, you must find one that has not only cardio, but also strength training. When lifting weights or using resistance bands, you charge up an entirely different type of muscle fibers that you’re not firing up when you’re running.
Building muscle is essential to weight loss because muscle increases your metabolism, causing your body to burn fat even after your workout. (One pound of muscle burns 35-50 calories per hour, whereas one pound of fat burns only 1-3 calories per hour.) The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism. Muscle burns fat!
Yesterday, we looked at the benefits of drinking water, now let’s look at all of the benefits of exercise:
- Weight loss
- Strengthens and tones your muscles
- Strengthens your heart
- Strengthens your lungs
- Increases bone density
- Boosts your immune system
- Boosts energy
- Relieves stress
- Reduces risk of heart disease
- Reduces risk of stroke
- Reduces bad cholesterol
- Reduces risk of certain types of cancer

Exercise is the remedy to prevent disease and death and stir the waters of life in our bodies.
You don’t have to exercise, but I strongly suggest you do!
