I want to begin this series by saying that I am not a health or fitness expert. I’m just an ordinary woman/wife/mom like you, who desires to be the best “me” that I can be. And I want you to be the best “you” too! I love to encourage and motivate others to live a fit life.
If you have read my blog on a regular basis, you will notice a recurring theme: Living an abundant life: spirit, soul and body.
In John 10:10 (AMP), Jesus said, I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
I firmly believe that God intended for us to experience His abundant life in every area. And a healthy body is essential to enjoying life. If you are always unhealthy or sick, you really can’t live and enjoy life to the fullest.
3 John 2 (ERV) says, My dear friend, I know that you are doing well spiritually. So I pray that everything else is going well with you and that you are enjoying good health.
This verse makes it quite clear that the Lord wants you to enjoy good health as you are growing strong spiritually. In fact, a strong spirit and a healthy body should go hand-in-hand and here’s why:
You have a specific, God-given purpose to fulfill, but in order to accomplish that purpose, your body needs to be functioning at peak performance! It’s hard to fulfill God’s plan for your life if you are in poor health.
Take an honest look at your life, health and body. Are you at peace with where you are physically or do you know deep down that you need to make a change? Do you find yourself dealing with the same struggles year after year? Do past failures make it difficult for you to even want to try again?
If so, I pray that this series will help and encourage you to make the needed changes. I don’t have all the answers, but I know the One who does.
Never forget that the Greater One lives in you and He can teach you and speak to you right where you are (1 John 4:4; John 14:26). He will also give you the strength to overcome temptation, lifelong bad habits and discouragement (Philippians 4:13; 1 Corinthians 10:13). Ask Him to help you and He will!
I want to take a moment to remind you that becoming healthy and fit (losing weight, gaining muscle, developing better habits) works the same way faith works. Remember, there is almost always a waiting period from the time we say “Amen” until the moment we receive. It usually doesn’t happen instantly or overnight. But you pray in faith and you keep standing in faith until you receive the answer to your prayer.
The same is true with becoming healthy and fit. You will not see instant results. It won’t happen overnight. But if you keep developing healthy habits and eliminating bad habits, if you apply the principles in this series you will see results. Practice faith and patience! (Hebrews 6:12) It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
Are you ready to become healthy and fit? Then come back tomorrow and we will begin! In the meantime, pray the following prayer:
Father God, I present my body to You as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable and pleasing to You. I ask for Your help as I commit to becoming healthy and fit. I desire to fulfill Your plan and purpose for my life, and I realize that I need to be well and strong in order to do so. Thank You for strengthening me! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
